Eight Copies Of One Jordan Card, $618 To $12,100

Eight copies of the 1987-88 Fleer #59 Jordan closed Sunday from $617.87 to $12,100.00, and the graded-to-raw gap alone ran $11,312.01.
Eight copies of the 1987-88 Fleer #59 Michael Jordan closed on eBay Sunday. The best of them, a BGS 9.5, took $12,100.00 on 39 bids. An ungraded copy of the same card sold the same day for $787.99 on 36 bids — a 15.36x spread and an $11,312.01 gap, the widest of the 14 same-card pairs we tracked that day.
Why it matters
The grade was the only difference, and on Sunday it was worth $11,312.01. Both sides were open auctions carrying 39 and 36 bids, so neither figure is one seller’s asking price — bidders set both.
By the numbers
- 15.36x — the BGS 9.5 at $12,100.00 against the ungraded copy at $787.99.
- 8 copies — the whole day’s cohort for this one card, from a PSA 6 at $617.87 up to the BGS 9.5.
- 13 of 14 — pairs that cleared our floors compared a graded copy with an ungraded one. Exactly one same-grade pair got through.

Zoom in
Under the BGS 9.5 came a PSA 9 at $3,101.77 on 34 bids, then PSA 8 copies at $1,275.00 and $1,072.00, a BGS 8 at $919.00 and a PSA 7 at $898.00. The ungraded copy at $787.99 finished above the graded PSA 6, which took $617.87 on 38 bids: a slab is not automatically the dearer copy. The rest of Sunday’s pairs sit in our sports collectibles coverage.
Reality check
A wide gap was not the only thing Sunday produced. Two PSA 8 copies of the 1986 Fleer #57 Jordan rookie — same card, same grade — closed at $17,675.00 on 33 bids and $15,399.00 on 42 bids. That is 1.15x and $2,276.00 apart, and our floors refused it: under 1.25x we do not call a same-grade pair a spread. Identically graded copies converge; it is the grade boundaries that reprice, as they did on the October 21 sales day.
What's next
Read the insert name, not just the card number. The widest same-grade pair our engine found on Sunday was a 1997-98 SkyBox Z-Force Super Boss #10 at $1,525.00 against a Z-Force Boss #10 at $295.00 — 5.17x, and two different cards. Super Boss is the short-printed version of the Boss insert and both are numbered #10. We removed it by hand before publishing, which is why 15 pairs cleared the floors and 14 are in the table.

How we track this
RazMania compares completed eBay sales of the same card that closed on the same day. Two sales are treated as the same card only when the player, year, set, card number, parallel or photo variation, print-run serial, autograph status and altered status all match — so a Refractor is never compared against a base card. Best Offer sales are excluded entirely, because eBay publishes the seller’s asking price on those and never the settled figure; every price here is a confirmed paid price. Multi-card lots, reprints and customs are filtered out. We quote no comparable-sales median and no 90-day pool — both prices in every comparison closed on the same day. eBay reports sold date, not sold time.
