October 14: same Jordan card, $8,200 and $8,500

Two BGS 9 copies of the same 1985 Star Team Supers cleared on one day — one took 36 bids, the other took a single bid.
A 1985 Star Team Supers 5×7 Michael Jordan graded BGS 9 sold for $8,200 on October 14 after 36 bids. The same day, another BGS 9 copy of the same card, #CB1, took $8,500 on one bid.
Why it matters
Two sale mechanisms, one card, one grade, and the two prices land next to each other. An open auction that ran 36 bids and a listing that closed on a single bid arrived at almost the same number, which is the best evidence this column can offer that the price is the market’s and not one bidder’s.
By the numbers
- $8,200 on 36 bids — the lead, an open auction and a confirmed paid price.
- $8,500 on 1 bid — the other BGS 9 copy of #CB1, also confirmed paid.
- 188 sales, $237,395.16 — the day’s confirmed paid volume, on a $477.50 median.
Zoom in
The rest of the Jordan board on October 14 was less tidy. The most contested card of the day was a 1997-98 Bowman’s Best #96 Refractor at $1,001 on 73 bids. The biggest price anyone actually paid was $22,999.99, for a 1998 Flair Showcase Takeit2.Net #13 in PSA 9 — bought outright, at 0 bids.
Reality check
The largest figure on the board was none of those. A 1985 Star Gatorade #7 in BGS 9 showed $36,000, but that listing accepted a best offer, so the number on screen is the seller’s ask and not the settled price. 78 of the day’s 266 qualifying sales worked that way, carrying $138,355.50 of asking prices between them. The Beckett label on our lead card is also worth reading literally: it says 1985 Star Team Supers 5×7, #CB1, MINT 9, and it makes no rookie designation, whatever the listing titles say.
What's next
No comparable-sales baseline could be built for this issue, so no median and no multiple are quoted here. Two BGS 9 copies clearing on one day is the closest thing to a comp this card has had in our window. Watch for a third — and watch the following day’s board, where the top confirmed price moved to a signed card instead.
At $8,200, would you buy this card?

How we track this
This is a backfilled edition covering the October 14, 2026 sales day, published after the fact. RazMania monitors completed eBay sales daily, filtering out multi-card lots, reprints, cross-listed items and non-card merchandise to isolate genuine single-card sales. The October 14 window held 266 qualifying single-card sales, 188 of them at confirmed paid prices. No comparable-sales pool could be built for this card, so no median or multiple is quoted. Our trailing context pull spanned 46 days, not 90. eBay reports sold date, not sold time, and on an accepted best offer it publishes the asking price, never the settled figure.
