Harry Kane won the 2026 Ballon d’Or on Oct. 26, the first English winner since Michael Owen in 2001. His card market was already active before the ceremony, with five-figure sales for his top Topps and Panini 1-of-1s.

Kane finished ahead of Kylian Mbappé, Lamine Yamal, Rodri and Lionel Messi, NBC Sports reported. He won the Gerd Müller Award the same day. NBC Sports credited him with 73 goals and 8 assists in 65 games last season. Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup, and England finished third at the World Cup.

“I’d say a dream come true but it’s beyond my wildest dreams, so just incredible,” Kane said, as quoted by Sports Collectors Daily.

Where his market stood going in

Sports Collectors Daily compiled Kane’s biggest known sales. Most happened over the summer, during and after the World Cup:

  • 2017-18 Topps Chrome UCL Superfractor autograph, PSA 10: $53,070 (September 2026), the highest known Kane sale
  • 2017-18 Topps UCL photo variation Superfractor 1/1: $49,200 (July 2026)
  • 2022-23 Topps Dynasty UCL Dual Gold Patch Auto 1/1: $31,500 (July 2026, Fanatics Collect)
  • 2023 Donruss FIFA Kaboom! Black 1/1, PSA 9: $23,400 (July 2026, Fanatics Collect)
  • 2016 Panini Prizm UEFA Euro Black 1/1, PSA 8: $21,300 (August 2026, Fanatics Collect)
  • 2015-16 Panini Flawless Finishes Black Autograph 1/1: $13,420 (March 2026, Goldin)

Every sale on that list happened before the Ballon d’Or, so they show the market Kane carried into the award. They don’t show any bump from it. Sports Collectors Daily also pointed to a live eBay auction for a 2024-25 Panini Immaculate England Nike Swoosh patch auto booklet 1/1 at $2,275, with 87 bids and 102 watchers when the story ran.

Why it matters

Soccer licensing is one of the hobby’s most active battlegrounds. Panini’s FIFA deal runs through the 2030 World Cup before Fanatics and Topps take over FIFA rights in 2031. Kane’s top sales come from both camps, Topps UCL chrome and Panini international products, so his market isn’t tied to one company.

Speculation: Awards can lift interest in a player’s cards for a short time. In our view, Kane is a veteran whose place in English football history is now secure, which makes him more of a long-hold “legacy” name than a prospect play. Wait for post-award sales before reading anything into a price move.

By the numbers

  • 2001: last time an Englishman (Michael Owen) won the Ballon d’Or
  • 73: Kane’s goals last season, per NBC Sports
  • $53,070: highest known Kane card sale
  • 14: World Cup goals, an England record, per Sports Collectors Daily
  • 5th: Kane is the fifth Englishman to win the award

What collectors should do

  • Separate pre- and post-award comps: The big sales above are from before Oct. 26. Look at what sells this week before deciding whether prices moved.
  • Know which brand is which: Topps UCL and Panini national-team cards are different markets with different buyers.
  • Watch the 1/1s: Kane’s top-end market has been made up of one-of-ones and low-numbered parallels, so single sales can swing the numbers.
