$7,724 Separated Two Copies Of One Jordan Sticker

Two copies of the 1986 Fleer #8 Jordan rookie sticker closed Wednesday $7,724.00 apart, the widest of eight same-card pairs.
Two copies of the same 1986 Fleer Stickers #8 Michael Jordan rookie closed on eBay Wednesday at $9,424.00 and $1,700.00 — a 5.54x spread and a $7,724.00 gap, the widest dollar gap among the eight same-card pairs we tracked that day. Both sold at auction: 31 bids on the PSA 9, 20 on the ungraded copy.
Why it matters
Almost all of that gap is the grade itself, and a slab-versus-raw step is what collectors already expect — this is not a mispriced card. What the pair shows is how steep the step is on this sticker right now, with live bidding on both sides rather than one seller’s number. Jordan’s confirmed-paid median across the whole day was $515.00, so both copies sat far above the ordinary traffic in the sports collectibles market.
By the numbers
- 5.54x — the PSA 9 at $9,424.00 against the ungraded copy at $1,700.00.
- 9.84x — the day’s widest multiple, not the lead: a BGS 9.5 1988 Fleer #120 at $2,972.00 over a raw copy at $302.00.
- 8 of 8 — every pair that cleared our floors compared a graded copy with an ungraded one. Not one same-grade pair made it through.

Zoom in
The refused pile is the more interesting half: 8 of the day’s 23 same-card pairs cleared the floors, and most of what was turned away was same-grade copies too close to be a story. The tightest was two BGS 8 copies of the 1985 Star #1 Jordan at $8,813.99 and $8,700.00 — 1.01x apart. Same grade, same day, and they converge; that is the baseline a graded-versus-raw step has to beat.
Reality check
Two caveats on the table. The 3.39x gap between a 1987 Fleer #59 PSA 9 at $3,850.00 and another labelled PSA 9 at $1,136.70 is not in it: the cheaper copy carries a (PD) print-defect qualifier — same number on the label, different card to a buyer. And the 4.81x row at the bottom of the table rests on a $3,900.00 buy-it-now that drew no bids, so that multiple is an ask over a sale.
What's next
The sticker cohort held only these two copies on Wednesday, so there is no third rung to check the step against. Watch for a PSA 8 or a second raw copy. Sunday’s edition led on a 1987-88 Fleer sticker, so the format is trading on both sides of the grade line this week.

How we track this
RazMania compares completed eBay sales of the same card that closed on the same day. Two sales are treated as the same card only when the player, year, set, card number, parallel or photo variation, print-run serial, autograph status and altered status all match — so a Refractor is never compared against a base card. Best Offer sales are excluded entirely, because eBay publishes the seller’s asking price on those and never the settled figure; every price here is a confirmed paid price. Multi-card lots, reprints and customs are filtered out. We quote no comparable-sales median and no 90-day pool — both prices in every comparison closed on the same day. eBay reports sold date, not sold time.
