The same Jordan rookie sold for $10,700 and $2,170

Seven copies of the 1986-87 Fleer Stickers #8 rookie closed Sunday, and the cheapest one was in a slab.
Seven copies of the 1986-87 Fleer Stickers #8 Michael Jordan rookie closed on eBay Sunday. A PSA 9 took $10,700.00 on 38 bids. An ungraded copy of the same card took $2,170.00 on 32 bids.
Why it matters
Both sides were contested auctions, so neither number is one seller’s asking price that happened to stick. The $8,530.00 between them is what buyers paid for the grade on the label, not a mispricing somebody missed.
By the numbers
- $10,700.00 — the PSA 9, on 38 bids.
- $2,170.00 — an ungraded copy, on 32 bids. The two closed 4.93x apart.
- $2,123.23 — a PSA 5 of the same card, on 55 bids: the most contested sale in the group, and the cheapest.
Zoom in
The ladder collapses the moment you drop below PSA 9. PSA 8 took $5,500.00, PSA 7 $3,150.00, BGS 8 $3,100.00, PSA 6 $2,250.00, the raw copy $2,170.00 and PSA 5 $2,123.23. Five of the seven closed between $2,123.23 and $3,150.00. If you are holding a mid-grade Sticker #8, the slab is not doing the work you think it is — a PSA 5 finished below a raw copy of the same card on the same day.
Reality check
Wide gaps are the exception. Two PSA 10 copies of the 1989 Hoops #200 closed at $525.00 on 25 bids and $485.02 on 26 bids. Two PSA 9 copies of the 1995-96 SkyBox Premium Electrified #278 closed at $1,162.00 on 24 bids and $1,100.00 on 14 bids. Neither cleared our spread floor, and that convergence is the more normal result.
What's next
17 copies of the 1987-88 Fleer #59 sold the same day, the deepest group we tracked. Its PSA 9 took $4,800.00 and a raw copy took $800.00. More comparisons from the day are below, and the rest of the desk is in sports collectibles — including Saturday’s Full Court Trap gap.

How we track this
RazMania compares completed eBay sales of the same card that closed on the same day. Two sales are treated as the same card only when the player, year, set, card number, parallel or photo variation, print-run serial, autograph status and altered status all match — so a Refractor is never compared against a base card. Best Offer sales are excluded entirely, because eBay publishes the seller’s asking price on those and never the settled figure; every price here is a confirmed paid price. Multi-card lots, reprints and customs are filtered out. We quote no comparable-sales median and no 90-day pool — both prices in every comparison closed on the same day. Every comparison is read by hand before publication: three more cleared our automated checks on this day and were withheld — a PSA 9 (OC) qualified grade priced against a clean PSA 9, a 1986 Fleer #57 listing whose stated grade does not fit the day’s own price ladder, and two different cards in the 1997-98 UD3 MJ3 subset that share a card-number prefix. eBay reports sold date, not sold time.
