The day's most contested Michael Jordan card took 111 bids and still finished at $417.

A 1985 Nike Michael Jordan promo graded PSA 9 sold Saturday for $5,101.00 after 47 bids. It was not the day’s largest figure — a 1986-87 Fleer #57 rookie in BGS 8.5 took $15,500.00 on 19 bids.

Why it matters

The largest number of a given day and the most informative one are rarely the same card. The Nike promo drew 47 bids. The $15,500.00 Fleer #57 drew 19. Both cleared in open auctions, so both are prices somebody actually paid rather than prices somebody asked for. RazMania’s previous edition covered Friday’s sales.

By the numbers

  • 310 — qualifying single-card Jordan sales tracked on September 19.
  • 216 sales, $230,734.43 — the confirmed-paid half of the day, at a $447.11 median.
  • 94 listings, $91,265.70 — best offers accepted, where eBay publishes the asking price and never the settled one.

Zoom in

Attention and price came apart all day. The most contested card was a 1996-97 Upper Deck Predictor #TV-2 in CGC 9, which took 111 bids and finished at $417.00. A 1986 Fleer #8 sticker rookie in PSA 9 changed hands the same day at $10,499.99 as a straight buy-it-now, 0 bids. Two mechanisms, two different qualities of signal — an open auction is price discovery, a fixed-price sale is one buyer agreeing with one seller.

Reality check

One auction is one auction. A single $5,101.00 result on 47 bids is a print, not a trend, and it says nothing about what the next PSA 9 Nike promo does. Note also that 94 of the day’s 310 listings settled as accepted best offers, where the figure eBay shows is the ask and not what changed hands — the same reason you read the last trade rather than the offer side of a spread, which is the equities version of this discipline. More of the day-by-day record sits in sports collectibles.

How we track this

RazMania monitors completed eBay sales daily, filtering out multi-card lots, reprints and cross-listed items to isolate genuine single-card sales. This edition covers 310 qualifying single-card sales on September 19, of which 216 were confirmed paid prices and 94 were best-offer listings where eBay publishes the asking price only. No comparable-sale baseline is quoted here: the lead listing’s title carries no card number, so no like-for-like comparison query could be built and no multiple was calculated. The supporting price sample spans 23 days, not 90. eBay reports sold date, not sold time.
