A 1986 Fleer #57 Michael Jordan rookie took 79 bids on eBay Tuesday and closed at $4,700. Beckett had encapsulated it as Authentic — no numeric grade attached.

Why it matters

The largest figure of the day was not the most informative one. Tuesday’s top confirmed Jordan sale was a $17,999 1984-85 Star #288 “Rookie of the Year” in BGS 6 — bought outright, at zero bids. An auction that 79 bids had to climb through is a price the market argued its way to. A fixed-price sale is a price one buyer accepted.
