Jordan Comps Are Running 15% Behind the Market

12 of 13 tracked Jordan cards sold higher over the last 30 days than in the 60 days before — median gain 15%.

Across 13 Michael Jordan card identities and 665 verified single-card sales, the median price over the trailing 30 days ran 15% above the median of the preceding 60 days. 12 of the 13 moved up.

Why it matters

If you are valuing a Jordan off a trailing average that still includes May and June sales, you are working from a number the market has already left behind. That cuts both ways. Sellers list under the current bid, and buyers anchor to a stale figure and lose auctions they thought were overpriced.

By the numbers

• +15.0% — median move across 13 card identities. The mean is +23.3%, pulled up by two 1997 inserts.
• 12 of 13 — identities that moved up. One moved down.
• 665 — verified single-card sales across both windows, after lots, reprints and altered slabs were removed.

The 1986 Fleer #57 rookie in PSA 8 went from a $16,000 median to $19,354, up 21%. The steepest moves are not the blue chips though — they are 1997 inserts. Bowman #96 in PSA 9 ran $250 to $410 (+64%), and E-X2001 #9 in PSA 8 went $370 to $593 (+60%). Both are sub-$700 cards where a handful of motivated buyers move the median a long way.

Reality check

• This is a tracked list of 13 identities, not the whole Jordan market. 62 more were excluded for failing to produce 8 clean sales in both windows, or for comp pools too mixed to trust.
• Recent windows run thinner. The 1986 Fleer #57 PSA 8 figure rests on 10 recent sales against 37 prior ones, and thin windows swing harder.
• One month is not a trend, and a median is not your card. Condition within a grade, eye appeal and timing all move a specific sale. eBay reports sold date, not sold time.

What's next

The one decliner is the most interesting line in the table: 1989 Hoops #200 in PSA 10 slipped from $512 to $494 on the deepest sample we have, 69 recent sales. High-population junk-wax PSA 10s flattening while graded 1980s Fleer runs is the split worth watching. We re-measure this daily.
